Como será amanhã??

Ontem presenciei a primeira demissão aqui no trabalho. Não é algo legal de se ver. Parecia aquela coisa de filme que a pessoa sai apenas com a bolsa e uma caixa de papelão com os pertences. Já viram algo assim? Nada legal.

Por razões até agora não explicadas a integrante do QA - Quality assurance - foi demitida. Segundos boatos da rádio peão, logo pela manhã o chefe dele pediu para ela comparecer a sala de reunião e foi dito que ela não fazia mais parte do QA. Ela perguntou a razão e falaram que não tinha uma. ;-(



Dois fatos que quero abrir os olhos de todos, inclusive os meus:
1. Não existe emprego seguro;
2. Não existe dia nem hora para ser demitido. Nem aviso prévio.

Por isso...é bom sempre poupar e ficar atento para coisas ruins também.
Existe um tipo de seguro do Governo, mas segundo informação da rádio peão isso demora pelo menos uns 2 meses.

Tocha Olímpica chegou Calgary

Ontem foi a vez de Calgary receber a tocha das Olimpíadas de Inverno em Vancouver. Segundo organizadores cerca de 10.000 pessoas estavam a espera do tocha no Olympic Plaza. Quando eu sai de casa ela tava passando na 17th AVE, que é uma das mais badaladas de Calgary, e podia escutar as pessoas gritando desde casa.

Isso não é nada comum - barulho. Geralmente não se escuta nem ao menos buzina da carro. O dia, ou melhor a noite estava perfeita, apenas +7 graus.

A tocha teve seu trajeto em volta da cidade, mas o ponto de encontro foi no Olympic e foi pra lá que segui. Minha esposa e amigos já estava a minha espera. Foi complicado de chegar lá. Resolvi ir andando mesmo. Chegando no Olympic me deparei com uma motidão! Caraka! Nunca tinha visto tanta gente junta aqui em Calgary. Depois de algumas ligações achei o povo.
A organização estava perfeita com músicas e artistas. Até o prefeito foi lá fazer uma gracinha e falar algumas palavras e uma delas foi pra informar que em Calgary foi o maior número de pessoas para esperar a tocha. Que chiq! E nós estávamos lá para fazer história. O clima da festa estava ótima, me senti um verdadeiro canadense.

O que poderia ser melhor que passar o aniversário junto da esposa no show de Guns N Roses? Parace até conversa de fã, mas apenas sei reconhecer o ótimo trabalho dos caras. Guns não fez apens um show, foi um espetáculo! Nunca tinha visto coisa igual.

O show estava marcado para iniciar às 20:00 e alí chegamos a tempo. Na entrada tinha uma fila enorme e curiosamente que se dividia em duas: homens e mulheres. Why? Claro que eles fizeram revista para confiscar as cameras fotográficas. A minha foi junto. Por isso não tenho nem fotos para mostrar o quão magnífico foi o show.

Quem fez a abertura do show foi Sebastian Bach, ex líder do Skid Row. Quem não lembra dos caras?? Eu mesmo tinha esquecido e por alguns minutos pensei que era Axl, isso já deu pra notar que não sou tão fã assim. Guns marcou muito pq foi na época que eu surfava. Ô vida + ou -. Poizé...Skid Row fez uma super entrada e tocou músicas antigas, como: "I remember you". Lembra: Remember yesterday - walking hand in hand . Só depois que tocou essa música foi que nos tocamos quem estava no palco.

Por volta das 21:30 Axl entrou em ação. Falo ação pq é isso que ele faz. Corre, pula, grita...o cara ainda tem todo o gás. Claro que um pouco diferente, pois agora o cidadão tem 47 anos, e nos intervalos dos solos de guitarra ele desaparecia e já voltava renovado. Não me perguntem o que ele estava fazendo.

Axl como sempre cheio de piadas...já começou xingando o grupo dele por ter esquecido ele no hotel. Como assim Biau?? Poizé...esqueceram Axl no hotel e ele teve que pegar um taxi para ir pro show. :-) Ele falou outra piadinha sobre o jogador de golfe - Tiger Woods que foi pego por adultério, mas como as piadas em English não são tão bem compreendidas...ri pq todos riram.

O show teve uma espécie de fogos e explosões controladas, mas a primeira foi totalmente sem controle que chegou a deixar uma das torres completamante muda. Por isso no final do show ele tocou novamente Paradise City. Passava um filme na minha cabeça escutando as músicas antigas de Guns. A única coisa que tenho a dizer é que apesas da banda agora ter 3 guitarristas, somando os 3...o resultado não chega aos pés de Slash. Mas não posso reconhecer que os caras tb são muito bons.

Em geral...o show foi muito organizado, policiamento em toda parte, lanterninhas ajudando a achar os lugares (cadeira marcada), etc. Quase 4 horas de show. No final teve uma chuva de papeis...coisa de cinema! O aparato tecnológico do show foi algo que nunca tinha visto em toda a minha vida.

Sabem o melhor de tudo isso?? Voltamos para casa andando, mesmo sendo 02:00am. Isso não tem preço.

Happy Birthday to me!!

E já se passaram 2 aniversários aqui no Canadá! O tempo realmente voa. Cheguei em Maio de 2008 e daqui a alguns meses completo 2 anos de Canadá, faltando apenas mais um ano para entrar como o processo de cidadania. :-)

Meu niver foi diferente esse ano. Mesmo pq agora casado, tenho uma esposa linda para me trazer café da manhã de niver na cama. Ainda bem que não como muito, pois tive 3 bolos de niver. E mais uma vez minha família cantou parabéns virtual pelo Skype. Nossa senhora do Skype! Ainda bem que temos esse recursos.



Só tenho a agradecer a Deus, minha família e todos os meus amigos que fizeram do meu niver um dia ainda mais especial.

Homelessness em Calgary

Esse é um assunto bastante delicado para os canadenses - Sem teto. É um pouco incoerente falar sobre sem teto num país de primeiro mundo, certo? Mesmo a cidade dando todo o apoio, suporte....mas ainda existe sem teto nas ruas. Não é nada gritante para uma cidade de 1 milhão de habitantes. Por dia vejo cerca de uns 3 a 5 sem tetos nas ruas. Quase 90% em Downtown.

Segundo pesquisas do Calgary Homeless Foundation cerca de 1.200 sem tetos vivem em Calgary. Isso corresponde a 0.12% da população. Dentre esse número a pesquisa aponta que cerca de 400 sem tetos estão nas ruas a mais de 5 anos.

A Univ. da California informa que o custo com serviços públicos de um sem teto por 18 meses é $200.000,00. É muito mais que um gerente de projetos recebe.

"If Calgary’s current homelessness growth rate continues into the next decade, weestimate that the number of people homeless on any given night could reach 15,000 and cumulative spending could be more than $9 billion."

Aqui em Calgary existe um centro de ajuda (foto acima: Homeless Shelters) onde os sem tetos podem fazer refeições, dormir e o mais importante: atividades.

Hoje aconteceu algo um pouco diferente. A princípio foi engraçado, mas depois pensei no lado social. Meu amigo do trabalho falou que ontem fez uns reparos no carro para colar a borracha de vedação dos vidros. A cola parece de sapateiro. Muito forte. Daí ele deixou um pouco aberta a porta do carro. Pela manhã assim que ele entrou no carro (ele não tem estacionamento fechado) foi olhar para trás tinha um sem terra dormindo no carro dele. QUE SUSTO! Ele falou que tomou um super susto e perguntou o que diabo (claro que foi outra palavra) ele estava fazendo no carro dele. Claro que a resposta nós sabemos. Imaginem uma pessoa dormir nas ruas num frio de -30 graus. Ontem não estava frio, apenas +10 graus, mas o rapaz achou um lugar aquecido. O frio é um dos motivos de não termos tanta gente nas ruas.

Agora a boa notícia é que durante esses quase dois anos que estou aqui nunca, jamais vi um menino de rua.

Stampede 2010 - Calgary

Sei que ainda está muito cedo para falar em Stampede, pois o mesmo só acontece em Julho (9 a 18), mas achei um vídeo muito legal no HD que pensei que estava morto. Ontem ele atendeu meu pedido: "Baby come back! " HD de volta...UFA!

"O Calgary Stampede é um rodeo, conhecido como o maior do mundo, que ocorre todos os anos, de 4 a 14 de Julho na cidade de Calgary, Alberta, Canadá.
O evento reúne peões de diferentes países em competições de montaria e laço. Eles disputam um prêmio total no valor de 775 mil dólares canadenses, cerca de US$ 510 mil. O primeiro lugar, inclusive, já foi conquistado pelo brasileiro Adriano Moraes em 1994."
